Fast Pitch Softball


Westgate's Fast pitch softball program is affiliated with the Amateur Softball Association (ASA). Our in-house teams have a maximum 14 player limit, with all players batting in the batting order and unlimited defensive fielding substitution during the game.


In-house Softball

Cadets (7-8 year old)

This division provides a lifelong foundation of the game by introducing softball fundamentals in a fun, non-competitive environment. This division uses pitching machine with an 11 inch ball for its games to enhance the players confidence and batting skills with a consistent pitch. Half way through the season player pitching will be introduced in conjunction with the pitching machine.

*Minors (9-10 year old)

Westgate Minor League Softball will be competitive and instructional. Pitching will be from 35 ft and we will follow ASA rules except for certain in house modifications. Girls at this level will be introduced to Base stealing, sliding, bunting, and other elements that will prepare them for Travel or School softball. All girls must play a minimum of 3 defensive innings with all players batting through the lineup.

Major (11-12 year olds)

The Major division will play a higher level and adhere more closely to ASA rules. Girls will be running on dropped 3rd strikes and stealing home will be permitted. Playing apart from the 9-10 yr old girls now in the Minor division will allow these girls to play at the same level as the older girls in the old senior division thereby making the transition to that level as well as Travel and High School softball much easier.

All new players in the Minor and Major divisions must attend the Evaluation!!!!!!!!!!

SENIORS (13 -17)

This division is now part of the newly formed Haverford Township Softball League. This league consists of teams from Brookline, Hilltop and Westgate Hills. For the first few seasons, players on teams that originated at Westgate will stay in tact only new players will be placed in a draft. ******See link below******
