Minor Softball rules (9&10)

Junior Softball, Minor Division
(9-10) year olds

Article 1

General Rules
1.1 This division will use an 11 inch ball and pitch from 35 feet.
1.2. Every player must play at least 3 innings of defense, however only an effort is expected to play a player arriving after the end of the 2nd inning. Free substitutions are allowed. (Westgate Only)

1.3. All players will be placed in the batting order. Players arriving late to the game shall be added to the end of the lineup. (Westgate Only)
1.4. A half inning will be ended when 3 outs are recorded or when 6 runs are scored.
1.5. No more than 10 defensive players permitted on the field. Batter and/or runner advances as many bases as she can,stopping when the ball reaches the pitcher's area in control of a player.
1.6. A minimum of "8 players*" is required to field a team, two outfielders minimum. If a team cannot field "8 players*" in accordance with the above rules, it will cause a forfeiture of the game and the score will be recorded 8-0 in favor of the opposing team.
1.7. A pitcher may pitch a maximum of eight (8) innings every two games. It resets after every game.

1.8. Runners can take only one base on an overthrow that crosses a foul line into foul territory.

1.13. If a player is ejected for any reason she will be suspended for the remainder of that game and the next scheduled game that is played and becomes an official game. Westgate only

1.14. Runners may not leave the base until the ball crosses the plate.

1.15. On a dropped third strike the batter is out and may not advance to first base.

1.16. Modified stealing is permitted, subject to rule #14 above, and the following limitations: During steal attempts no runner may advance past third base unless there is a play attempted (by throw or fielder running at the base runner) at third base. (Umpires decision on whether a play has been made to third base.) no stealing home unless there is a play attempted (by throw or fielder running at the base runner) on the runner at third base.
